not a bad idea, but, it usually takes me more than an hour to make a good layout for a moderately complex circuit like this. it is fun though

Instead of relying on other people for it, just try it for yourself.
really??? :hmmm: wow thanks for the encouragement I'll run out and get some literature and give it a go. Taking into consideration that its my first layout where would you suggest I start please?

And pardon me for stating the obvious but if it was as easy as I think your implying wouldn't it have been done already? I've seen a fair few people here bawk at led/ldr or vactrol circuits, quite a few. So pardon us for trying to bump this its just I always found that bumping does liven up a dead topic and normally good things come from it.

But I digress where would we start? Don't say google cause I googled the fuck out of this and I don't see anyone offering info on how to do a layout with led/ldr or vactrol anywhere.

Oops sorry can I ask that or am I relying on somebody again

Here's a list of suggestions.

- Take a look at layouts you really like to decide what you want to go for (on board pots, jacks, etc.) and so on.
- Use existing examples of LED/LDR combinations (I know Madbean has at least one board like that, so you can use some of the data from that) and go from there
- Try a few times. You're going to have a hard time if it's the first one, but it's more fun that way.

Just because I said it could have been done already has nothing to do with the complexity of the circuit. It just is a statement of how many people had asked for a layout to be handed to them and how much time had passed between each one.

Just do it. There's no way you'll learn unless you start.

Thats excellent advice thanks bubstance I really appreciate that. :thumbsup

I'm excited now, actually this will be the 2nd layout I have attempted. The 1st one was a complete failure but I'm willing to learn from my mistakes :)

To the others please don't rely on me for the layout as it may take some time to even attempt this.

onwards and upwards :horsey:

Don't wanna turn this into a T*P fight now do we?

I love you man. In a mans mans manly sort of way.

BTW....I'm looking to build a compressor for country.
Not really country, more Southern Rock.
The Diamond has been suggested.
How is the FGC?

I'm currently using the Boss CS-3 with the attack almost dimed.
It does the job fairly well set that way.
I kinda like it anyways.

Opinions?

Thanks.

haha

dude I got 6 exams in the next 4 weeks so sorry as I said before I can't even think of attempting this until after I tackle that hurdle. I really wish I could but I'm so over committed here that I even had to pass up some studio session work also :slap: :( :whappen:

But I promise I'll give it a go when I am free m'kay. :thumbsup

But maybe you could give it a go between now and then ya never know it may just work out for you. :)

but honestly, I've heard they're on the same par, more or less. still like to hear this green machine one day, though

I put Vishay in and out caps and burr brown OPA2604ap op amps in my build and it sounds very, very pleasant and smooth. doesn't really do "squish" I guess it's more on the light compression side, but very nice at it. I guess the forest green will go all squish on you if you flip the switch that way

I've done a first draft.. done a very cursory check, but it will likely need some pretty good inspection, and I have neither the time nor inclination to do that right now...
happy to post if someone else wants to go over it?

Here's my stab at a veroboard layout. Unverified so any build reports and corrections would be gratefully received

Just an idea for neatness: you could pull another jumper from the tone3 point to the bottom row, place a cut right to the point where it connects to the bottom row, and make the tone3 lug on the far left end of the row. :hmmm:
