I want to no more about how to implement the back to back darlingtons and which part number to use. I have built a zen drive and am familiar with using mosfets as clippers.....thanks

I have two main questions.:
1: What makes it SMOOTH?
That's the big difference I hear in most of the demos of most of the versions.
They're smoother even than a tubescreamer. No crumbly gain. No artifacts on the decay.
Is it the filtering? Ir the way the gain is set up? The diodes don't seem to be anything special and I'd be surprised if it's due to different op amps. What's the secret?

2: The final output seems to have a lot less mid hump. Is this due to gain stage filtering? Or the tone control values? Or what?
I'd love to hear your thoughts.
