It is a boutique style Fuzz Face only it is made by an engineer.

Microcontroller transistor bias circuit for temperature compensation. Two separate boards, one on each side, hanging from an Alpha pot and a Cliff jack. RoHS except for the AC128 transistors. Low profile IDC connectors and smt technology.

Not RoHS then...

Sadly no images of the uC. Any info on that?

Anyone got a schematic or layout for this?

How silly! What possible use is the microcontroller (unless it's operating a bypass relay)? If you want to do temperature compensated bias, there are simple analogue circuits that will achieve it with just a few parts. You could even make use of the "Fuzz IC" (CA3046) for the bias compensation.....

This looks like an example of complexity just for the sake of making something difficult to copy. There is always a risk of having digital noise breakthrough into the high gain analogue circuitry - just ask any manufacturer of clocked effects! This really is silly!

Hah, easy for you to say Jack...you're already awesome at designing ;)

I've just dipped my toe in to the world of pedal building...I'm a whole *1* pedal deep so far, and it was a kit! But I loved the experience and am now interested in learning all I can.

The SM Fuzz is one I'm curious about as it's just become available directly in the States...but after the Jan Ray debacle I'm just not interested in buying pedals anymore. Just learning to build, design and modify.

Why?
Cause I put them up my nose to warm them up before I use them.

no need to go far by the way, just look at the temparature compensation in VCOs of analog synth .

Would love to know if anyone has more info on this circuit.
