Probably not. The Fuzz Factory is a noisemaker box - not something intended for a "sweet tone".

Maybe you should look at my Shizzle fuzz.... it's intended to actually sound good, not be a fuzzy mess.
HI,
Full consent. We can change it, that it sounds.

I agree here, if ya just want a fuzz face type fuzz, build one exactly to your liking. As said, the ffact ff type settings aren't really convincing.

I found a small mistake in my Fuzz Factory schematic; the polarity of the cap that connects to the wiper of the Drive control is backwards. Oops

As requested:

i done some mods to my fuzzfactory a while back.
Its got 100uf out put and 47uf input caps,BC109c ( it had a mpsa11in there )in Q1 and a 5nf cap across B and C of Q3.
this is one of the worst fuzz pedals ever imo, i dont much like it at all and cant understand all the hype about it.Its decent now that ive changed it but stock its just awful.

actually, its still not that great, its to fizzy still..............might be the germanium tho as i aint much of a fan of it.
I'll see what else i can do to it.

by far the best improvement you can do to this is the input/output caps tho,i dont know what planet zachies on puttin 10uf caps in it.sheesh!

There´s a sucker born every minute - and too many of them end up in the bootweak pedal biz.

I got bored today so i ripped out the xzev tranies and replaced them with some Ac128's (not the o1's) and i actually like the sound now, its pretty nice to be honest.

i measured the hfe of the original ones and Q3 was about 80 and Q2 around 130.

Anyways there better than the shit tranies zv uses nowdays thats for sure.

btw, i cant tell what the zv ones are, il try find out, but they look brand new so they're either mint NOS or brand new, not 60's Ge' ,ike his site sez..............idk.

what's the opto pad for? Do you think it's used on the fuzz probe to control the stab?

Does anyone have the schematic for the control board of the "probe" serie?

I have a FF on loan Vexter series:

It's a ver different board from this one with the opto pad. (Trevise, maybe start a new thread no the Fuzz Probe is a better idea to attract reactions)

It also has one 100uF cap (instead of 10uF) ...

Box, instructions, towel, serial, the wholepackage
Where did D2 go? Seems clipped out after soldering
Ground wire on the switch seems a bit dodgy without isolation...
Volume pot is 5K linear, stab pot is 5K C (reverse taper), the others are B10K

Transistors are 2N404a, but not labeled ZVEX, couldn't make out the silicon - hardly feel it's worth taking apart. If somebody has questions, stuff they want checked out, just let me know.

Hmmmm,.....................

btw, Are the Mullard AC128's the orig issues? cause i have those and soma the ones with the caps and emitter tag thing and they sound identical basically.
all these 128's i have sound very very nice and have made me realize ge aint bad as i almost hated them before this.

I still favor silicon anyday tho, its warm and reliable!

My FFact, i put AC128Mullards in,47uF input/output,MPSA13 in Q1, 104 ceramic.
Sounds cool and the mullards have a MOJO factor to boot!lol

after all this experimenting it aint a half bad fuzz now...............

that 3pdt wiring/soldering looks terrible, is it???

the 100uF is strange...its not input or output, what stage is it in? i may have to try it to hear what it actually increases.

they probly put the diode in by mistake, mine dont have it. but its printed on the PCB.

You know why all xzev PCB's have places for extra parts? i've noticed my woolly mammoth has one more electro and a zener than the one posted in the WM thread...seems theyre just made out of any old juck lying around.lol

I've got an extra FREE etched PCB for this. It isn't drilled. First PM with a US address gets it!

Did I mention FREE :D

Some of them use 2N404.

Any likely candidate for a GE Fuzz, would do, have a look at the thread from the beginning, lot of suggestions here.
