Fuzzhugger - Phantom Octave

After posting in my old gutshots thread for the Velcroar, I remembered that I owned a Phantom Octave and traced it like 2 years ago haha.

I have no idea what I spilled on it. Please don't judge me, hahah.

It originally had a bunch of black hot glue on it, holding the PCB and the pot in place, I removed all that. Was it black? I think it was.

C5 wasn't on there originally.

Crude is cool! It's got a cool velcro type tone that gets weird octave sounds when you play with your tone knob and volume control.

I didn't really get any octave when I breadvoarded this just now: Do you think the LED to ground needs to be boutique blue for it to work like the videos? I used a red.

What did it sound like? Did you play with your volume controls and whatnot?

No idea, I always thought the LED was just to light up.

I've heard of using diodes like this to get an octave down, but I still wonder if this really works. If it's like those misbiased transistors that give an octave down, then I probably will never get this to work. But hey, with it being this simple, I gotta try it.

Did anyone else ever try this? I never built from that schematic, perhaps there's an error I missed.

It does look similar to the Finger Print (Penny Pedals), Maybe the LED - D3 is drawn backwards.

The way it's drawn, D3 will never conduct no matter what color you use. The 4148 will provide the lesser path to ground.

i loved the sound of these, as i ususally do when things are on the verge of breaking. My problem was not the LED but one of the diodes, and after a couple of times I gave up.

Hey, i just finished this pedal , I made the circuit a week ago and now is in its box, the LED works perfectly , try various colors and I liked most was an amber one that i'll change later, i let the blue for comparison with the original wich already did and the sound is very close, i just dont like the fact that the sustain fades out quikly, even if i roll down the tone control (like it says in the video demo from fuzzhugger) any way i wonder if someone of you guys can tell me wich resistor can i modified to increase the sustain or gain, i´m kinda new in this thing and i never work with IC´s before i always use transistors so this is my first buitl with ic, this is a great site, lots of info, glad that i become a member, sorry for my bad english, thank you guys greetings from Mexico.
