Dwarfcraft - Shiva [traced]
Hmm, i built this out of curiosity, but i just get a kind of weak overdrive, no anywhere near the gain like on the demos. It adds a nice little flavor when used before another distortion, but on it's own it's weak and useless... Also, the "power struggle" pot just decreases the volume, no drastic change in tone
And i'm prettyy sure that i've got everything according to the schem
Anyone else built from this schematic, is it correct?

so what's the verdict on that schematic?

The verdict on this schematic is I cobbled it together fromphotos of a shitty pedal covered in tape and various tid bits of info Aen has said on other forums.
its definitely not 100% correct as there's missing and guessed values through out a lot of it, when there's that much tape on there who can tell!?!?!?!?!
I have absolutely zero interest in dwarfcraft pedals BTW so I wont be trying to fix this schematic.

I so dislike the modern digital world that I need to use semi-digital effects to emulate the analog world of cassette, VHS, and vinyl.

The schems aren't availible any more :/ could somesone reupload them? I'd be interested in them ! Trying to build some pedals out of that corner!

All my schems got deleted when I changed photobucket accounts.
From here on out I will only upload to this site.
My old schem actually differs from the hand drawn one I have of this pedal, drawn by the tweaker himself.
So i dont know which is correct as I havent been following these pedals as they are complete junk!

Looking at this I was wondering if the other stages need the two bias resistors. Wouldn't the first stage bias the following stages?

Nope. The only time you could have a situation like that is if all the stages were DC coupled to one another. This circuit is AC coupled because it has caps doing the coupling between stages.soggybag wrote:Looking at this I was wondering if the other stages need the two bias resistors. Unit I got in..........
POS; lots of tape; volume pot is grounded by pushing the lug as hard to the enclosure as possible....... I can forsee problems in the future.

My unit is almost the same as the above schematic aside from a few values and 2 added resistors. I've attached a modified version of Bernardduur's schem with changes noted in parenthesis and the added components boxed.
Mine is built on a PCB labeled "Version 2.0" and was mounted on standoffs stuck to the back of the pots. The wiring was fairly neat, but the standoffs made the electrolytic caps touch the bottom plate of the enclosure. I had to add some electrical tape because the pedal kept shorting and making an awful racket.

Cool!
No PCB in mine; just perf. The added resistors aren't in mine! R9 was 330k; it colored a bit between orange and red but I measured it and it checks out!
I turned C2 around to make the polarity right

that 1M emitter resistor makes no sense. wouldn't that reduce the gain of that stage to nothing?

Dunno; maybe 15R (brown, green, black) instead of 1M (brown, black, green)???RnFR wrote:that 1M emitter resistor makes no sense. wouldn't that reduce the gain of that stage to nothing?

I wonder if you can hear a difference between 15R and 0R in a bazz fuss? Having 1M doesn't seem like it would allow the transistor to do much of anything.Bernardduur wrote:Dunno; maybe 15R (brown, green, black) instead of 1M (brown, black, green)???RnFR wrote:that 1M emitter resistor makes no sense. wouldn't that reduce the gain of that stage to nothing?
Also, what's the point of C2 and C3 being in series? That gives an effect capacitance of a little less than 1uF total. So why not just have the 1uF there and save 2 cents and a little board space?

Probably used to have a gain control there or something
Testing, testing, won too fwee
