When I have made five posts, here will appear a link to the schematic of the Zvex Woolly Mammoth.

Here is a zip-file with the

Wooly Mammoth guts

Ok, the rumours are true, I am working on a PCB for that "design" fitting in a 1290 box...

In the meantime here is one of my contributions to the "10-parts contest" which has been "censored" by the God. Here it is, the:

Monster Wholy schematic

According to Zvex philosophy "nothing-inside-but-a-lot-of-knobs-to-impress" my design counts only 10 parts thereof 7 controls !!!.
The capacitors look like this:
http://amplifier.cd/Test_Equipment/Hewl ... 00cd-1.jpg

And if your local dealer doesn´t store it, you can build it for your own:
http://www.oe5.oevsv.at/basteln_js/tech ... ehko01.pdf

In the meantime I am thinking of a Zvex "back-to-the-future" design by simply using a BB112:
http://www.docethifi.com/BB212_1.pdf
in a fuzzface circuit from the collector of the second transistor to ground.

Maybe this helps the fuzz-factory to oscillate better ?

or two of the diodes would give a nice Rat or Distortion+ ?

I should apply for a patent to protect my IP.... before puretube does.

I do not like that the web address has been removed from that schematic. Can you please post the original schematic with full credit. It is encouraged that if your entry is based off someone else's work, particularly someone from the community, that you give proper credit.
Is my name Zachy.... ?

Hi AG
You forgot the "snap" and "pop" controls
OR are they going to be on the deluxe version scheduled for release next year at NAMM

He was on your tail. Did the same trick in April, as I realized already what took Aron another two months to realize. If the Wooly Mammoth is forbidden redraw it the Mooly Wammoth or something. And the competition is the place to post those renamed redran forbidden schemo's.

My entry was a stripped down CreamPie, called theGermaniac (check this thread) guess what, I won

Why isn't the WM released by Aron? It's a control-laden fuzz face. Also don't understand why the SHO was permitted, considering it's importance in so many ZVex designs...

hmm....I didn´t really want to participate in this contest. What can I win there ? That it will become a boutique-clone ?

And it didn´t have anything to do with the Woolly Mammoth.
You see the tone control ?
It was only - in a Zvex-manner - modified Fuzz-Face.

But I think the variable caps are something really new....Okay... a little bit big, and 100n hard to achieve...you have to add another dielectricum than air, but maybe we will see this:

http://www.scitoyscatalog.com/Merchant2 ... gory_Code=

in the next boutique-pedal released ?

Hey, only 18 bucks for 10 pieces, this should be affordable even for Zacki.

First of all, thanks analogguru!!

- I've breadboarded and it really sounds like "Time is running out". :D

- Not very versatile but one great sound.

- I'll change some bias resistors to trimpots to find other sweet spots.

- Some people claims that it doesn't sound as good on active basses so maybe I'll try the passive pickup simulator from muzique .

- Some info about the transistor's gain? Low to medium gains like other Fuzz Faces? :?:

What´s that:
https://cgi.ebay.com/ZVEX-Wooly-Mammoth ... dZViewItem

less than 20 components for $ 299,99 :?: :?: :?:

I think I should start in pedal businness:
"TODAYS SPECIAL OFFER:
Buy a "Bully Mama" and get an additional one for free....."

This gives real motivation to finish the announced PCB - Layout for FREE !!!

But now I can understand why puretube is so nervous:
His (far more complicated) pedals ar up for auction only for 199,50 buks:

I actually find really useful at high volumes as the pinch control does really help with noise and feedback etc. yes the woolly mammoth is very susceptible to impedance issues and sounds pretty different with different amps/guitars.

Tim Escobedo suggests putting an inductor in series with the input of alot of his circuits if you're using active pickups. He said it makes it sound the same as if you were using a passive pickup. I think he says to use the primary of the ubiquitous "42TM018" that everyone uses for everything. It's on his "Circuit Snippets" page. That kind of arrangement could work here - I've thought about trying it myself because I want to build one of those things for my bassist to play with and he has an active bass too.

It was to be called "Massive Willy" as a jeu de mots from the original but as much as I enjoy being juvenile, I couldn't do that along with "Excellent Stiffy". Too much.

Thanks
It should fit on the side of a Hammond, but of course watch the power rail.
I put it here for discussion and learning but not forever so grab it while you can!

Igloo,

your layout has a 220nF and a 220uF capacitor.... analogguru has TWO 220nF!

just a FYI!

thanks

I believe C1 is a misprint.

I'm going to call my SHO derivative the "Burning Discharge".
