Analogman - TS9/808/Silver Mod [traced]

It should be noted that the Sanyo Os-Con caps are part of the mod and not original. They are the blue electrolytics that you can see in the photos. I don't believe they are sold under the Sanyo name any more, but you can now get Os-Con caps under the Vishay brand. They are an "Organic Polymer" type of cap with lower ESR than the standard type... and they are expensive; about $2.50 to $5 each depending on the series and value - compare that to the average of $0.20 most caps in that value range cost.
Now, we need to know if they are 94SA series or 94SP series - there's a difference between the two.

Keeley came up with something different to AnalogMan or different to Frank Clarke's mods?JimiB wrote:If I remember correctly the Keeley had an extra diode soldered to the solderside of the board for assy clipping.

I believe I already answered you twice but to make it clearer, those 3 are all 1k's.andregarcia57 wrote:what are the values of the carbon composition to change?
only the 3 remaining, because I'm changing a clone.
look at the photo for identification.
thanks
And I don't think the 0.1uF film cap on the upper lefthand corner is changed.
Green output electrolyte is 10uf nichicon muse and I forgot which series it was.

Is this a different mod? I don't see any magical carbon comp resistors.

Those big brown caps are Panasonics ? Could anyone tell me what type exactly ?
They look so big.

I thought the same thing, Maybe he doesn't bother to change the type because the 808 has the 'right' values (and, in my opinion, because it does nothing to the sound).soulsonic wrote:Is this a different mod? I don't see any magical carbon comp resistors.
The Freestompboxes Forum search function is soo great, use the search function..., the S E A R C H function.
Photos found. I found these doing a reformat a few weeks ago and thought it best to post them (thank you modman). Super busy lately with school and work sorry to have not posted them earlier.vanessa wrote:I got one of these off ebay a few years back.
These are the from the TS9/TS808/DX with Silver Mods

it is not a modded pedal. it is a stock ts 808 (i think)
I can not see any part substituted; it seems original.
Are you shure it is modded by analogman?
bye

There is some more series of Sanyo Os-Con's I've seen on ebay - SC, ST, SF, SS, SEP and SEPC Series. Does anybody knows what series is ther in Mike's silver mod? Any other new info?soulsonic wrote:It should be noted that the Sanyo Os-Con caps are part of the mod and not original. They are the blue electrolytics that you can see in the photos. I'll try my bestdai h. wrote:maybe if you can find a picture of the markings (on the OS-Con), it will help to find the exact series. Is the mod really that good?
I've done this mod just the half way. IC changed to real old 4digit JRC4885 (thanks to Mictester, you're GREAT Sir!), bipolars to panasonic 1uf's, the same with tantalums and other caps as mentioned in this tread. All resistor are left alone stock, I've only changed the ones in brown mod (actually blue mod in mine, as I've used Riken CC's) I still don't have the Sanyo electrolitics - shipping is a bitch. I'll change the clipping diodes to MA856's later today, as I think this is what is used in silver mod. How does it sounds compared to the stock one? Smoother, I can use it with tone knob fully open without unpleased harsh-type sound. Kinda SRVish
Anyway, I'll not buy it from AM just to find out what Sanyo's series is there, it's not as much my sort of tone I'm looking for to spend that kind of money

you know there's a TS on ebay which claims to have been used by SRV which has parts similar to those used in that mod:

(I could be wrong but) I suspect it's BS since the parts seem too new. Check out the bid (reserve not met).

Yep, looks Silver'ish, Sanyo's, Nichicon's, Panasonic's, few CC's, diodes are left alone... 45 cents more, and the price would be soooooo evil
I don't know how big BS is this, but I swear to God I have a First Act Delay used by Gilmour in his golden years, I can let it go for only $665,55 I just can't prove it

Electrolytic on the bottom is not 47uF like it was marked earlier, but 100uF. Rest components added according to new photos. I think it's done

Ok, I don't think MA856 diodes is the thing used in silver mod. My unit become as twice as much gainy, no SRV here any more, I'll back to stock diodes
