Never heard of them actually, nice build tho. Cool idea with a few knobs and a ton of switches in a small box.

i got the lal soapbox theremin, input sensitive tremolo and rattle crow plus some chances to try out some of their fuzz. Imho, some of the tonal characteristic aint too far apart from some of effector 13 kinda fuzz added with of their own tweaking variations

i like the rattle crow for it broken ugly sound, but unfortunately, outta most people who tried it. They often gave me a wtf look instead
on its own, its can be quite bad sounding, best result i gotten was having the rattle crow into a tim escobedo ugly face inspired fuzz.

the innard, thats the best i can do. If to flip the pcb, gotta removed pots and stuff from the enclosure.

ah, managed to pry open the trem.

other then the 4558 chip, the transistors kinda mix of k30a and c1815(or maybe c181S), am not too familiar with those code.

back to the oscillo fuzz... i think i know how it could work...you need one or more square wave oscillators(like in the synthstick of tim escobedo).. then you need a audio-transformer(1:1).. signal of oscillators go to the primary of the transformer... through the secondary of the transformer you send your guitar signal... in the end the signal is send into a fuzz/overdrive/dist... i noticed this effect while experimenting with my guitar... i build in 3 oscillators which are connected to piezos under the pu´s (humbucker)... when i play with a distortion and the oscilators are on, then some sound come out that is nearly the same like the one out of the oscillo fuzz... so its just a theory and hopefully i soon get a audio transformer to test it...
so its just an idea...

Best Regards

Benny

edit: Because my english is not as good as it should be.. her is a schematic:

Not from me anyways, i still havent bought one, I cant bring myself to spending that much money on a noise maker when I can make noise makers myself.
I so dislike the modern digital world that I need to use semi-digital effects to emulate the analog world of cassette, VHS, and vinyl.

Hey, I just got a Super Oscillo Fuzz on the workbench this week. Just finished tracing it this evening. Simple circuit... three 2SC1815GR transistors and a bunch of switches. It gets some interesting oscillations and I think the best sounds are when you get some intermodulation happening between the guitar signal and the oscillation. There was one trick I encountered when tracing it; one of the resistors had been re-painted to show a false value. It was painted to read 22 ohm when it was actually 2,2 Megaohm...

I'll post it up after I get it re-drawn.

Hey, dirty tricks.

A senior engineer once told me about 10k Jumpers.
The Freestompboxes Forum search function is soo great, use the search function..., the S E A R C H function.

Cool! :applause:

I was gonna buy one then i lost interest in noise makers and am only kinda just getting interested in them again,...sorta.

I plan on getting another vzex factory so I may still buy one of these, IRDK.. *shakes head*

Something like this happened in the very first sovteks like the red army overdrives, civil war muffs and first green muffs. In place of using a 470pF cap and then a jumper (in 3 places)they would use two 820pF/1nF caps in series, same result different look. When I first got one I was like "this doesn't make sense to the schematic I have" then realized what they had done, just using one as a jumper essentially.

by changing a 10K into a 10ohm?

marty, that is really finny with the repainting! how'd you catch it?

One trick that I'd seen was 10k or 100k pull-down or inter-stage resistors that had be dipped to look like the plain "jumper" resistors (the 0R ones I frequently use instead of bits of wire).

The spacing of the bands was inconsistent and the value was nonsensical occupying the position it's in.
