Here is a vero layout.
It's my first one, I hope you like it.

I build it yesterday, but it was so late that I could only check it very short, but seemed okay.

Hey Sammy, why not use a double gang pot for the tone knob?

sammy, that resistor under the IC could get a bit tight even if you use a socket, so you would've to mount it to the copper side.

Hi,

I used a stereo pot, but didn't know how to draw that in the vero layout.

yes, mounting it on the copper side is easier. I used a socket and it works, not the best way, but it works.

Hi,

I built one of these using Ivlark's vero layout and I really like it, but it's a bit top-endy.

I'm a bit fixed as to where I have the body knob, as if I turn it back from noon, it goes very raspy/raunchy, so I need to take it to the right, but can't go too far as it gets top-end'y.

I've already got the Treble on my amp (JCM 800 2x12 combo) down to 9-o-clock and the presence all the way off as I prefer the the bridge pickup (hb) on my Ibanez S470.

Is it possible to mod it to remove some top end without making it too muddy or muffled?

Thanks,

Ian

I've been wanting to have a little more precise control over the tonal palette of this pedal so I came up with this idea.
I haven't tried this yet personally in practice but it functions electrically just the same as using the dual 20KB pot, it just has two individual controls for tuning mid- and treble response separately.
All the same sounds are of course available just as in original LGW + a lot more.
I didn't do any calculations which curve A/B/C will give the best control over the entire rotation range of the new Treble pot, but any 5k pot will work.
That of course also depends on how do you want to wire it; to cut or to boost.
I hope I have time to mod my LGW personally this weekend.
Feel free to experiment!

Old thread, new question. I'm thinking about modifying a TS type of pedal by giving it the tone control from the LGW. If I were to implement a tone control like this - dual ganged pot on two passive RC filters - would it matter if the wipers of the pot weren't connected to ground as they are in the original, but to Vbias instead ?

I'm looking at the LGW schematic attached to this post.

It should work exactly the same as the tone pots are AC coupled (they have a capacitor in series with them so there will be no DC).

I say should because there is always the possibility that it might interact with something else, it shouldn't but it just might!
