I have done a few of the stomp switch repairs for people on the Line6 DL4 over the years. There are some folks out there selling kits to remove the springloaded stomp switch, remote the tactile switch on the PCBs, and wire up & mount some more robust NO switches.
After seeing what the actual problem is, that may be a complete waste of time and money. The issue is rarely that the springs are going bad. Instead there are tiny plastic hollow ferrules within the core of the spring that deteriorate, get crushed, or just flat out pop out of the inside of the spring.
If you look closely at the attached pic, you can see tiny plastic ferrules inside the springs. These are often missing and are the culprit, which leads people to purchasing 4 expensive switches, then paying someone to do the install job.
Simple solution: A 1n4001 diode with the leads cut down flush to the base on each side. Drop those into your springs and you're good to go for about 10 cents. (This should also work on the DM4, MM4, etc.)
