Dan Armstrong - Yellow Humper (early version?)

Which version is this?

This is an Armstrong Yellow Humper. It's just plain "Armstrong" rather than "Dan Armstrong" and made in the UK. I ask because I have a similarly marked Orange Squeezer. It has some age, predating the non-Armstrong reissues.
Does anyone know the sequence of manufacture of these boxes? Armstrong, Mutron, reissue etc?

Maybe it is a Pre-Mutron Version.Professor SourTone wrote:Which version is this?

It seems likely, but hard to know for sure. Funny how the seller thinks it's the "British version of Mu-tron's Purple Peaker", which I also have and is a different effect.
I think I've posted this in the wrong forum - should probably be in Stuff Seen for Sale...

If you have one, how about guts ?I ask because I have a similarly marked Orange Squeezer. It has some age, predating the non-Armstrong reissues.
Or at least what is written on the IC ?
With that information it is much easier to date the unit.

Don't agree - valid thread - had never even seen these plain "Armstrong" boxes before. I backed up the images for when they go offline.Professor SourTone wrote:I think I've posted this in the wrong forum - should probably be in Stuff Seen for Sale...

Looking around, I find three UK variants (at least)
No Dan, Made in UK on the back
Dan, Made in UK on the back
Dan, made by Wareham Electronics on the back

The Yellow Humper was a Purple Peaker revoiced for bass guitar (I asked at the DA website). ROG (aka homewrecker) already had the PP with mods, and Brian Tremblay came up with this ...

Big question on my mind:
How does it sound?
As a bass player I would love another "specific" effect on my bass!

I never said it was the original schematic. The original YH sounds very like the PP, so the schematic I showed was a revoice to our tastes. The basic schematic is the same, the values are different for a different response. You can use the vero layout with the original values. Or not. I only wanted to avoid confusion and mentioned it.
Now we have a link to the factory schematic and everything should be ok ?
