Catalinbread - Naga Viper [traced]

Hey! Just got this yesterday. It's a great sounding Range-master derivative, with a lot of control over the sound. More of a dirty boost with a "fullness" control of sorts (RANGE) than a treble booster, although those sounds are in there. The nasty stuff on the back of the pedal is not Catalinbread's doing, it's my failed attempt at desoldering that jack there. When I got the pedal, it was a clean PCB
The schematic is hand-drawn, and it looks kind of funny at the input, so if somebody would like to redraw, go right ahead
The one value I'm not sure of is the little blue cap circle in the last pic (blurry pic).

Information
That should be fixable with some deflux or lighter fluid and a toothbrushjwpartain1 wrote:The nasty stuff on the back of the pedal is not Catalinbread's doing, it's my failed attempt at desoldering that jack there. When I got the pedal, it was a clean PCB
A clear pic or a description of what's printed on the cap would help alot, if you'd like some of us to identify the last part value there Nice work otherwise!jwpartain1 wrote:

Thanks culturejam. There are no markings on the blue cap, that's why I haven't got it. BTW I figured that the brown caps were labeled in micro Farads, they used labeling like 683K.

Cool, then the schem is wrong.
Ignore values 103 micro F and 683 micro F. Use culturejam's correct method of labeling them
Thanks!

That little blue capacitor might very well be a 47pf "smoothing" cap as it can be found as optional cap in ROG's Whisker Biscuit. It reduces the amount of treble for a a more "velvet-like" sound as they (ROG) say.

Information
That blue cap is most likely < 1n, based on it's position in the circuit.
Very interesting. I am wondering about the empty Axial Electro Caps slots.

Sorry guys, the RANGE pot is the coolest part, too..
I'll make some time tomorrow to look it over again.

it looks as if the junction of the 3n3 and 1n should not connect to the Pot, and the pot should go to ground instead. it is similar to the runoffgroove omega.

Yes, you are right. The pedal uses Neutrik jacks (I Neutrik) that are grounded when a cable is not plugged in, thus I was having issues differentiating some of the input/ground connections.
It is similar to the Omega, you're right. It'll still be a few days before I have the time to go over everything thoroughly.
I'll tell you what though, it sounds great

A Naga Viper was a record holding hot pepper of a hybrid sort. I think it held the most previous record that was recently broken.

They're there but very difficult to see. My eyes are barely good enough when wearing contacts. You've gotta get just the right angle of light to see them.jwpartain1 wrote:Thanks culturejam.
