Chipped away at this thing for about an hour with the pick that came with a Rat Shack iron I bought a couple years ago and got most of the goop off. Two resistors were wrapped in heatshrink under the goop and all of the film capacitors have the markings sanded off. The ceramic cap is painted black. I've got an LCR meter coming in the next week to measure them all. Looks like there are components under the jacks too so I'll have to remove those as well. Will get better pics up tomorrow when there's better light.

Stellar effort there mate - that's commitment when you strip out the board of a $300 Himmel!

Actually, I grabbed this one for $150 on TGP. Was a little beat up and missing the screws to the bottom plate. Figured it would be a good first degoop with a not so bad investment and a relatively simple circuit. This lead free solder is killing me though. Need to run by Radio Shack and just get a ton of flux and copper braid cause I can't find the nozzle for my Hakko pump that will fit over the jack pins. Plus I can replace all of the components with something a little more mojotastic when I'm done. :thumbsup

wow lead free stuff? thats a pain in the ass. If you aren't doing it already, what I do is flow 60/40 into the joint to mix it with the lead free. Much easier to desolder after that.

Tried it a bit earlier, was much easier. I ran out of braid though and I've got a lecture to go to so it'll have to wait until tomorrow.
