This is really a scandal.....
Do you think that the Dunlop JH-F1 (Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face) schematic could be helpful to overcome this annoying boredom ?

Ach! Check out R5 - I had to do the same thing on the fuzz I just designed! Anti-squeal resistor - use with high-gain transistors. Was that a part of the original Si Fuzz Face? I came up with the idea of using it in mine through the process of testing to get a design that wouldn't squeal when the Fuzz control is at maximum. I was able to get away with 47E in my circuit. It's funny how a small resistor like that is all it takes to keep the circuit stable.

Thanks for the schem. AG.
What does the E on R4 and R5 resistors values mean?

E = Ohm in lack of an Omega Symbol and to not confuse it with 0 (=Zero).

this was one of the worst sounding commercial fuzz pedals i ever played. tried more than one, they all sounded quite similar

i appreciate the post and schematic though. thanks

Do you mean that crummy plastic one from the early 90's? We're talking about the brand new one that just came out... it's supposed to be way better, but I have no direct experience with it. Is this new one the one you're talking about?

oh sorry, i thought we were talking about the early 90s one. the case was round, black and metal w/ a hendrix discography on the back.

I beleive this could be the JH-2 (confusingly), here is the

for comparision.

Hi,
any idea how to set the two trimmers? half the supply voltage or, being a fuzz face, something different?
thank you

:BUMP:

Can anyone suggest ideal voltages for Q1 and Q2 when using the trimmers on these ?

I am building a combined Si and Ge switched for Q1 and Q2 and I would like to base this on the JH-F1 when switched to Si for both transistors.

Can anyone recommend number for the Si transistors as I was going to use BC109Cs

Aloha analogguru,
Nice schematic...However, P2 is a 470KA.
Cheers,

just a guess, but if you are switching out si and ge transistors, you might be better off going with si with a lower gain in order to match a little better with the ge. maybe BC109As? that way the bias wouldn't be as off when you switch. or you could use a switch that switches both transistors and bias resistors.

and thanks george. you are indeed HUGE.

as far as the trimmers go-

just turn em til they sound purty.

I was looking at the circuit board of the JHF1 fuzz face and compared it with the schematic posted here. I noticed a small mistake on the schematic. R3 is 332E and R4 is 3K16.

 schematic updated, actual version v 1.1
please delete previous versions.

Now you now, why I don´t like that the schematics are spreaded around uncontrolled. Mistakes and new cognitions can always occur. Update is much faster this way.

Analogguru,

Thanks for this JH-F1 schematic (I noticed that the output cap is a 100nF instead of the 10nF usually seen on silicon fuzz faces).

What gain would you recommend for the BC108's ?

Turbo Fuzz Face:

Original document in Hungarian:
http://www.hobbyelektronika.info.hu/kap ... trauss.pdf
Im m very sorry but I do not speak good English. Use the Google translator.
It is a distortion pedal based on the scheme known Fuzz Face.
Little more complicated which makes it have a unique sound.
The attached documentation is written all adjustments and deserves reading.
Using translator google can read the document.
