thanks for all the information,i built this on perf and it worked ok,except that i have "reverse response",the led has max brightness when my hand is far from it,i'll check which pin of the 4093 i used as an output :-P
I plan to use it as an expression pedal for my old and loved lexicon vortex...
Thanks! i'm using your traced schem,arph...i checked the output signal with oscilloscope,it's a variable rate square wave,i'll check the pins later when i'm back at my workshop...i'm reading the rock and control article,really exciting posibilities...
I'm also planning to build a theremin,now that i saw that this is a stable method of control (previously i supposed it would be impossible to trim/calibrate)...

Flip the LED.. In my schem the LED is oriented incorrect. That's why you probalbly get inverted PWM response.

then the pulses must be inverted than I guess. So you either tap at the wrong inverter or you have to add one.
So can any on here make a clone of the zvex wah probe? Or a probe circuit that I can hook up to a fuzz factory to make it a fuzz probe? I would be very interested in that. Someone, anyone, please let me know!!!

I guess you didn't bother reading this thread all the way through before posting then?? The answers are all there if you look...
For a Wah Probe, use the Colorsound Inductorless Wah, and replace the Sweep pot with the LDR.
For a Fuzz Probe, put the LDR in parallel with the Stab pot.
Nope, I read every single post last night, I'm just a bit intimidated about making one, and I'm short on spare time. So I'm asking if I can pay anyone on here to make me one, just to start me off, something to look at and learn from, I don't have any formal training in electronics, so it would just be a help to me, i could give you $50 or something to show my appreciation. If I can't find anyone, I will just try myself.

Ah, I see! Sorry, I guess I didn't read your post properly (i'd been up for 36hrs straight).
To be honest, i'm not entirely sure of the rules here regarding building clones for other people. Ethics is a grey area for sure, but I think you'd learn a great deal building one yourself. I've built probes before, they're not a difficult build at all, provided you take the time to calibrate it properly. My advice is to get multi-turn trimpots for the adjustments, and use a fresh battery or well regulated power supply. If you use a battery, bear in mind that it will affect the adjustment when you house it, through capacitance with the case, so final adjustments must be done in-situ.

Seriously though, the components are real run of the mill stuff. In the UK you can get them from Maplin, RS components or Rapid Electronics.
In the US, I'd guess Futurelec, or Digikey would be your best bet. Ebay is not really the place to be looking for stuff like that to be honest.
yea, i find that some common switches are cheaper on ebay, but most small electronics stuff like what i need isn't there. thanks for those sites, both of you guys.
