Frequent question abouts LED and other types of diodes.

Who knows more about that topic or have experiences with?
Some Chinese sellers offer 1N34A Germanium diodes.
I wanted to buy a number of diodes but I was afraid of faked ones.

Depends on the seller and what the actual product looks like. If you want good reliable cheap GERMANIUM diodes the Russian types are great. The D9 series is great. I just got in another 100 D9b and they are all in the .325 Vf range. I did buy some 1n34a that are the smaller package do-35 like 4148s are. They are all pretty low Vf but I suspect they are schottky not germanium based on the sound. Still they sound great in my Octavia build. Ymmv but shop around and look for sellers with little to no negative feedback.

I have a couple of 'chinese 1N34A' and they indeed sound like schottky and not like soviet germanium diodes.

Let me guess, that are the ones which looks like the small signal silicium diodes.
Am I right?

No, not exactly. My diodes are glass packaged and look very similar to germanium. I guess they have DO-7 package. But they just don't sound like real germanium. They also have voltage drop that falls into germanium/schottky range (200-300 mV).

What was the value of the measuring current running through the diodes?
