Emitter follower on the output? - no..can't be, that's to simple even for a solder jockey
But wouldn´t this require that the output is not connected directly to the pot, as can be seen inthe guts of both pedals ?

I did not find this pedal (nor any other effect pedal) in catalogs earlier than this one from 1972:
There seem to be two distinct circuits, telling by the pcb and components this is probably the earlier version.
Then there is a later version like the one already referred to above:
