Ibanez WH10 V2 volume control
HI, I seem to have lost my login as it's been a few years, so I am new and shiny
I was searching the threads and found some info on how to make the reissue of the Ibanez WH10 sound more like the original (cap removal) and about true bypassing, BUT i can't find anywhere any good information on how to add a volume control to reign in the gain boost you get on these pedals. I know people do it but for some reason to my knowledge no one has ever posted how best to do it. So if anyone could advise that would be super duper
thanks

Sorry to revive an old thread.
But by looking at the schematic (and I'll be attemping this on one of these soon), on the LM358, R11 may be a way of taming the volume issue.
I'll have to do the mod and report back.

I just got a client that wanted the boost mod done to a V3. I don't have V3 schematic, but I was hoping it didn't differ much from V2 (thank you @Dirk).
For the mod, I thought swapping R11 (430k in Kirks' schematic) for a variable resistor to tame the signal gain going to the output.
So it seems that in V3 this resistor is R6.
I must return this unit ASAP so I don't have much time to properly trace it, but here are some pics I took today that could shine some light on the differences between V3 and V2 (not much I suspect).
As for the TBP/Buff switch, I took the pictures with the switch in TBP position:
Sorry I can't do the tracing as I don't have more time, but hopefully these pictures would help.
Cheers!

Cool, I just opened my V3 to see about doing this mod. I have the V2 schematics and did the mod to that one when I had it. Did your mod work in both TB and buffered positions?zedsnotdead wrote: ↑22 Dec 2021, 11:39 I just got a client that wanted the boost mod done to a V3. Indeed it worked!
Awesome, I just looked at the schematic. I think when I did it, I swapped R30 (220r) for a pot. Thought maybe it was the same mod which made me wonder if it worked it both modes. Makes sense now that I see it’s on the opamp. Nice work, I don’t find myself which much free time to dig into circuits like I used to so really appreciate it!
Hi All,
Thanks everybody for this, especially to zedsnotdead. I just wrote this topic after successfully modding a WH10 V3 thanks to your advises. I included the photos of my mod to integrate those shared here by zedsnotdead:
