Completed builds: I might be at level 2, so to speak..

not totally green, but that's all :)
my "level" is about building a big muff... medium complexity :)

I'll never build a DS-2, for example :)

- -
even though I'm a layman to electronics
I'll never build anything without seeing the actual schematics too...

- -

my all time favorite: Fuzz FAce
it is an always ongoing project..
- -

I want to end up strumming some strings at the end of the day, whatever the sound

I'm so sad that this beautiful culture (and freedom movement) is totally ephemeral

hi,

I really liked the demo video at Miro's tagboardeffects blog post,
so I landed here...

and saw this "curious?" message, and from that moment on it was as if watching a Greek drama, like Antigone or something...

cause it felt absolutely uncool on the designer's part to goop it, and to do this dissing act, too...
but for some reason he couldn't help it, couldn't avoid that mean move...
and that's the drama's core...

the designer, P.K., apparently knew both sides of pedal building...
he could have left a message like "I'll usually do this, too"...
but he chose to be mean...

leaving that message was exactly the moment when he failed,
cause leaving a message for a hacker breaking into your system, while you're not watching and can't act, is blatantly stupid...

also, the work is there, finished, let go of, it can't change, can't improve...
the hacker, however can learn, adapt, and learn even more...

in any case,
the drama's main conflict is profit making... and joining that group...
and trying to break up with the other people who play their children games in their own private (collective) kindergarten... so to speak...

cause pedal building has to remain on the level of the playing children even when money and incomes are being involved...
it can't become business like (strong) businesses (/strong), you know...
cause when it does (if ever), the whole point, the essence will be gone...

the essence which our wonderful Björn Juhl has never forgotten about, for example :)

back to the drama of this pedal builder protagonist, however, it doesn't is have a happy ending:
his website has "© 2017" in the footer... today still...
the same year when some guy had his $300 copy broken, "some bad contacts or something", which caused the pedal to land on Mirosol's desk under his curious eyes...
pedal building, tracing and sharing is such a beautiful freedom movement... If only it could be viewed as a future heritage, but it really is ephemeral, as it seems
