Hellooooo eeeeeeveryone. I'm back~

Three years of online college classes made me want to destroy the world...

During this time, I worked with my boss to make a distortion effect pedal,
although the cost is a bit high, but it sounds great, I put the circuit diagram here.

If you are interested, you might as well make one and try it.

Schematic

I used the AP1501-xx step-down switching power converter to save board size，
and the 555 as the controller for the boost supply/bypass.

The effect module is a modified TS overdrive,
which is nothing to say is just an overdrive...
yeeep，you can change it to something else...

(——Why use 555 instead of other professional power management IC?）
（Because 555 it's really too cheap ,Guys...）

Buck and boost converter noise and ripple.（Boost=160V 100mA，Buck=6.3V 300mA）
The PWM signal from the 555 has a high voltage spike (BR),
which can be improved by adding a resistor to the gate...

I think there are a lot of things that can be continued to be optimized in this structure,
do you have any ideas？

Thanks for the work you've put into this, very inspiring to say the least!!
I'm sure it's just a typo but U4 (4558) power pins are swapped on the schematic (unless I'm missing something). Again, looks fantastic!! One of the most professional looking projects I've seen in a while.

Another typo: The transistors being used as input and output buffers are labeled as BC558 transistors when those are PNP transistors instead of the NPN transistors that the schematic shows.

Overall, quite a nice and neat design. Good idea to use a 555 timer for a switch mode power supply. I've done that myself for a tube overdrive of my own design and it just works great.

I'd move that electrolytic farther away from the tube. It is a really nice overall design though.

Overall, quite a nice and neat design. Good idea to use a 555 timer for a switch mode power supply. I've done that myself for a tube overdrive of my own design and it just works great.

Yes you right, high temperature will accelerate the aging of electrolytic capacitors.
I will try to change this component layout design in the future iterations...

Yes, the 4/8 pin in the schematic diagram is contrary to the actual 4558 pin.
This is a very strange packaging error. I will revise this schematic diagram after finishing this year's college course...
