Hi,

My local electronics shop goes by NTE references. While shopping there, I noticed that many common components have the same reference (e.g. both 1N914 and 1N4148 are NTE 519).
Am I shooting myself in the foot because NTE assimilate otherwise different components or are 1N914 and 1N4148, or 2N5088 and 2N3903 different names for the same chips?

See https://www.nteinc.com/ for NTE references lookup.

I think the NTE products are just meant to be a generic replacement that will function ok in place of several different parts.
