Ok, reviving an old discussion . The tried and tested LDR's (NSL-7532) are EOL and/or you can find them for crazy amounts of money. Does anyone know of new (still in production) alternatives for Univibe LDR's?

I found that there are still 9203 LDR and NSL-7530, but I do not know their production status or if they are EOL.

To be short. Do you know and tested still in production LDR's that make a lush Univibe (using a lamp, not LED like, Neovibe, Habinger x, etc.)?

Thanks for the replies!

I have a whole selection of GL55 series LDR's except for the 5547 which on paper should be a good alternative.
What do you think are the primairy requirements for selecting an LDR?
Spread in resistance between light and dark? Switching speed R on to R off (and vv)? minimum resistance, maximum resistance, or something completely different?

For the the most important is light/dark R values

Yes very close from what I use. did you tried it on a regular Univibe design? How accurate are they? Do you need to sort them?

Thx, however I do not have any social media anymore as I left all of them since 2022 :) and I must say I am still very happy I left them.
How would you compare the 2 LDRs? Is one deeper sounding than the other? Other differences?

Another point to consider, removing the 4.7k resistors after the LDR, so you need a LDR with higher light resistor, easier to find.

How did you place them? Flat, 45 degree angle or 90 degree angle relative to the bulb. Distance to bulb? With/without light shield?

By experience I put them flat facing up so light is coming from bouncing back from inside LDR/Lamp cover. I prefer the sound than facing directly lamp. I never tried 45°

Ok, I tested a lot of different LDR's and I found the GL-5626 very .. no extremely nice. Still have not found real NSL-7532 so if someone has some for a reasonable price I would love to buy some. Honestly I like the whole Chinese GL-55xx/56xx series and they are very useful.
