Hi,
I've built a clone and compared it against my original. It's not sounding as thick, I dunno why, I used a TLC2262 and a 576k in the feedback loop. Everything is working as it should, no weird behaviours. Could it be a fake chip? Has anyone ever encountered a fake TCL2262? Or maybe it could be the mojo caps in the original that make the difference?

The details of the op amp are hardly significant but there's a fair bit of variation between '386 types and manufacturers.

I used the a National LM386N-1, just like the original, maybe it could be a fake?
This is actually my second clone, the first I used an TL072 and also sounded thinner, but after reading bajaman post I was expecting that this time with the TLC2262 things would be different. I swap it with an old OPA2134, no difference in sound. I also tried a JRC2043, which is a tad darker, and the pedal got a little more bottom, but still didn't sound exactly like the original.

@PCN, I couldn't find a layout for your board, but the IC on the right side looks to be upside down.

Interesting. Definitely a bit different then the standard opamp fuzzes. Clipping multiple 386's ...
AFAIK, one thing Fran always did/does is/was create circuits that were specific to her pedals. They were all designed by her from the ground up. She never just modified existing circuits. She created new circuits for each pedal. Never reused anyone's circuit.

She also apparently designed the NYC big muff and never got compensation for it. Supposed to be thr best selling big muff.
