The first picture is from a Colorsound (One-Knob) Fuzz Box Reissue from 1996:

The other three pictures are from a clone-pcb of that unit - built by me.

some time ago I made a vero layout based on AG's pics and Stu's schematic. hope it works, haven't tried it yet.

The versions posted (reissue and clone) look different.

The reissue version has 3 transistors, the clone has two... so what's the 3 transisor for ? Added gain stage? buffer ? Mill Bypass ?

So this circuit has a fuzz face topology... with the gain knob omitted (maxed out all the time) and slightly tweaked values for the components.

But I still don't know why the colorsound reissue has 3 transistors, diodes etc...

Yo

The reissue has a clean blend feature with an internal trimpot. That's where the third transistor comes in... http://www.macaris.co.uk/product_full.a ... 27&catID=5

i was under the impression that this was a vintage release, hence the categorization. is it true that this design was only released within the last decade?

apparently it's the same circuit that was in the rotosound fuzz: http://stompboxes.co.uk/forum/viewtopic ... 6&start=10

Is it really a clean blend feature?
'a little preset wheel that allows you to balance the effected sound against your true bypassed sound'

I could also interpret that as a volume control; then maybe the 22k lin pot does something else (like gain or pre-volume or something like that).

Great pedal! I once build one in a Colorsound Fuzz Wah pedal of which the fuzz was removed from.

No, it is NOT the same, it is similar....
one big difference is the collector resistor of 4k7 at the second transistor in the Jennings pedal(s) instead of 2k2 in the colorsound pedal.

The Jennings Fuzz-circuit was also used in the Cyclone.
At least in the cyclone the 220n output cap is loaded with 100k (instead of 470k used in the colorsound pedal).

Anybody tried anything like 2N5089/5088 in this pedal?

I ask because I only have some BC108's, and no BC109's at the moment.

Any other transistors that might sound good in this circuit?
