Someone told me about these things awhile back and then I couldn't remember the name of the pedal or the company. Anyone have any info on the Super Rand-O-Matic? Did they make other pedals? Thanks.

There's a sound sample on Tone Frenzy. Not really my thing but the person who told me about it made the "Someone should clone the..." comment.

A friend of mine has one of these. I borrowed it and opened it up to take a look. It was very complex. I think it used some sort of pic or other micro-controller. It looked like it would be next to impossible to clone.

The sound was not that impressive. Sort of like a flanger/delay with the option of a random LFO.

You could probably make something similar (maybe better) with a PT2399 and a creative LFO. A lot of people have added LFOs to PT2399 it's not too difficult.

In light of recent threads I want to be very clear...

I am trying to get a hold of one of these. It looks as though I may be able to. If I do I will take high-res pics of everything I can provided I don't have to disconnect or desolder anything.

Hi res pics of sanded components aren't going to help you much. I think there are a few 20+ pin ICs in there too. There are also several different versions of the pedal. Youll be lucky to get one that works since they are notorious for breaking and if you have a broken one... well, good luck fixing it.

The guy never sent it over. A lot of "Yeah, yeah...its one the way" but no dice so I gave up asking.

Buy one on ebay a long time ago, huge board with lots of sanded chips.
Works poorly at first and even worse after I put it in another box.

I really think it's only hype because it's not very usefull nor musical (and I
do like crazy effects).

I don't think pictures will help.

Sanded chips!? Try me  Sanded chips are no setback. They're an engineers challenge!
Where's those pics? First step to a decent working unit is information. If it works poorly that may be the character of the thing.... or it was partially broken already.
Sorry. Plain out of planes.

Thanks Charlie!
It's built like the designer had something in mind. Shame that they fail so easily.
How does one sand an IC without causing electrostatic damage anyway? :hmmm: I
imagine it's like shuffling your shoes on carpet but I've been mistaken before.
