Has anyone tried this gate circuit?

That circuit is similar to some of the circuits I used to use, but isn't really good for musical use. It might be OK for a radio receiver, but we need something more subtle for music!

Noise gating is something I try to avoid. I like my circuitry to be quiet enough that it doesn't need gating! I haven't found any gate that I'm entirely happy with - they often cut off the attack or the decay of notes.
"Why is it humming?" "Because it doesn't know the words!"
