I have a potential upcomming opportunity... (Some of you will read into that and understand exactly what I'm talking about). A requirement is that I own a rework station for replacing SMDs. The reality however is that folks who secure such positions rarely if ever will actually replace an SMD but rather will replace a PCB. I need some advice on purchacing a hot air pencil without causing significant carnage to my bank account. There are a number of rework stations on ebay for under $100 -- I can spend more if I need to. I read the specs of one and it uses 700 watts. I read another and it uses 275 watts. Something tells me that these two items are quite different. What should I be looking for? I may actually want to use this thing for my own projects because SMDs are inexpensive are making PCBs for SMDs is a quite a bit simpler. So I want the thing to work.
I have a Pace SensaTemp 90 watt power unit with a Sodr-X-Tractor (never used it). It has both pressure and vacuum ports. I can't seem to get a straight story on whether or not there is a hot air pencil that will work with this power unit.
Any help is appreciated.

- Completed builds: A series of modified 5E3s, 5E6 and 5F8s in exotic hardwood cabinets. Too many handcrafted guitars to list. I play around with stompboxes now and then. I've built a fair number of one off specialized instruments and a few for people with special needs. Everything is custom and I never do the same thing twice.
