Neovibe Cap Voltage
Hello all....my first post here....I hope this is the right place for it.
I'm getting ready to buy parts for a build of the Neovibe and wondering why the parts list is asking for 50V on all the 1uf caps? The reason for the question is I've hit a roadblock in obtaining this exact value at three vendors. Plus, I can't really see why these need to be this high a voltage. For those who have built one or just know, is it possible to substitute a lower value? Like 25V perhaps. There's plenty of these around.
Thanks for any help....
Chris

I guess 50V is specified because you van power it up with 24V DC or 20V AC. You can expect many voltages inside to be around these values. So you're safer with higher rated caps (50V then).

Where are you looking? I can't easily find 1u capacitors rated LOWER than 50v!
From one of my usual suppliers, 1u FILM caps come rated 63V, and those are only 20p.
Where are you looking? It should not be a problem to find a 50V or above rated 1u capacitor.

Testing, testing, won too fwee
These are electrolytic polarized caps. So there's a bit of difference with what you'll see in rated voltages.Hides-His-Eyes wrote:Where are you looking? I can't easily find 1u capacitors rated LOWER than 50v!

But,I should clarify that I can find them at Mouser, but have been trying to keep the amount of suppliers to the least amount as possible to cut down on shipping costs. (I'm on a low budget) I've been using GGG because they have some of the more hard to find parts, and Pedal Parts Plus for the same reason. I was just wondering if people have built it using less. I guess I'll just have to add another shipping cost on.
Thanks
Yeah, I guess....but yet the actual PS filter caps are rated at 25V and 35V on the parts list. That's why I was wondering a bit about the whole thing. I know alot of the info from Geo on the Neovibe is a good many years old. I was thinking maybe some of these values were what was just readily available and that's what made it on the Parts List. I made a mistake. The supplier I'm using is not GGG, but Small Bear Electronics.SoundPerf wrote:These are electrolytic polarized caps. Is there a way to edit posts? I couldn't find it.
