I am extremely bored and have little knowledge of electronics and building pedals, so I found this site and thought I would ask a quick question.
What kind of pedal could I create for fun out of an old mixer I have? I really wanted to make some sort of fuzz pedal but was told I would probably need some old transistors or diodes to get a nice fuzzy sound? I am an absolute beginner if you havent noticed! but really want to understand more
I can post pics of the mixers insides if you wish - it looks like there is plenty to play around with - whether its useful or not is beyond me (and yes I do own a solder and soldering wire).
I also have access to random little bits of electronics lying around should more parts be needed!
please dont flame me for posting in the wrong section or asking a stupid question

Hello and welcome,
I'd reccommend beginning by ordering the simplest fuzz or distortion kit you can find from somewhere like Build Your Own Clone or General Guitar Gadgets, or Small Bear.
They will come with all the parts you need (parts sourcing can be challenging), instructions and quality pcb boards.
BYOC has this too (http://www.buildyourownclone.com/confidence.html) which might be a good place to practice soldering.
Also, don't expect it to work the first time. If it does, you're lucky.
Good Luck and Happy Trails
