Great work, many thanx for sharing that!!!

Do you know what kind of caps was used in the original? And which diodes for clipping?

I didn't know you guys were after this one.. there's been a schematic floating around the net for a long time..
Anyway, I have one in the cupboard, so any questions.. fire away.

A Big Muff derivative.

Nice work on the layout BTW Dirk.

Naturally. The OD850, this one as well as the later square button version, are big muff clones. Same for the Ibanez OD9 (not the later Maxon) as well as the SF5/FZ5 sixties fuzz. All Big muff clones.

So....Ibanez took the Big Muff pedal schematic, and put it into a pedal case the size of a TS808?....Hmmmm..... :)

I thought that the circuit was going to be derived from the TS series,I looked at the circuit board layout, fully expecting the IC in a prominent position, then I had to do a "double-take",then I thought to myself..."Eh?..what gives?",the pic you posted was the very first time I've ever seen one of those,Dirk... :)

Kind of James tone section, but w/fixed bass... Add a bass pot can be easy, I guess

Dirk.. your schematic is quite different from the one that's been around for a while..
Did you trace it yourself ?

If need be, I can check mine, but it's not as simple as later Maxon/Ibanez boxes, as the circuit is mounted inside a plastic box which seems to be attached to the pots.. and obviously these are pretty valuable.

Can you tell me one reason why to trust a fuzzcentral schematic ?
The fuzzcentral schematic is NOT from the first version - it is a stripped down version from the OD-850 with FET-switching.

Except some component values Dirk´s schematic is identical to mine - and I traced it myself (from guts).

analogguru
There´s a sucker born every minute - and too many of them end up in the bootweak pedal biz.

Cool.. thanks for clarifying analogguru.. I hadn't seen your schematic before.

When was the FET switching version built ?
Was it a wider case ?

It had the same enclosure, I think they only wanted to use a cheaper switch. I´ve read somewhere that it was build from 79 to 81:

Would be really great to have enclosures like that for diy projects!

... at the second view, I´m not sure if both enclosures are identical. Maybe the later one is the size of the original TS808?

I made both versions last year and really like V2. V1 is close to one of the many different Triangles out there ans V2 is closer to a Ram's Head

Search for a good layout for the Big Muff, use it as a starting point and draw your own layout ;-) Should be easy...
