Anyone has traced this?, I just curious about the PT2399 filtering stage (pre and post).

The vactrols are most often [ as i've seen ] used in compressor circuits ,
the led may be like a " half wave rectifier " ? set up with some kinda threshold to just mess
with the signal [ level wise ] a little to make it sound inconsistently inconsistent .
[ but only on the tape side ]
Gotta do something to market it and make it stand out , if a stock circuit .

nope, way off. It's used in the modulation.

I'm guessing the LDR side of the vactrol is in series with the delay time pot. Just my n00b'ish 2 cents

My guess is that the opto + LED are set as clippers of a half of one of the Opamps but no audio passing there. The resistive part of the opto is affecting the delay pot (in series can be an option) and the modulation pot is in paralel to the opto to set the max R so the max time difference with the LED on / off.

I thought that was all done. Is the consensus you all need more shots to wrap this u? if so I will ripp thuis apart after band practice on Sunday... Let me know. I thought that was done..

I believe that the modulation wasn't traced. I also think there is enough information in this thread to make it work.
But there are those that will want an exact, complete schematic. And we don't have that yet.

I bought it to support Brian... I thought that there were not more detailed shots for the same reason. i don't want to hurt him He has been such a supporter of the forums.. If it is the consensus that we need more shots I can help if we want to leave it as is with info as is I will salute that.. Lets have a collective yea or nay here..

Listening to the demos it just sounds like an envelope follower driving the vactrol which is either 1) over the delay pot (don't think it's this one) or 2) over a small resistor, maybe 3k3 to 10k (like a depth control) that is switched in series with the delay control.

I'd say it's side chain opamp with led to rectify and get the envelope follower to drive transistor switch with vactrol across delay pot...

Jack deville is such a tease with his "bomb-maker's attention to detail."

Hurrah! Freestompboxes.org died when people think that tracing a circuit will damage the builders... or is in some way contrary to the law. What every traced unit the last five years has shown, is that every unit takes its inspiration somewhere. Yet if this is an interesting pedal, people should be curious to know how its done.
It's done by simply tracing the unit. No by sucking the builders cock until he reveals a secret. Sure professional builders can partipate in discussion, but they should sign up anonymously. If they respect the totally non-commercial orientation of the board, that is....

So...
Should I change my name?

Leave the board?
Just tryin to do right.
