Hi,

anyone know of good place in Australia with a decent range of pots with solder lugs . All I can seem to find are PCB mount.

I'm looking for B100K dual gang amongst others.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

You could try Altronics,Jaycar Electronics have a range of 24mm and 16mm Alpha pots which I tend to use alot in my pedal builds, they are PCB mount, but I found that you can still solder wires to their lugs, each lug has a thin section that normaly fits into a hole in a PCB,to solder wires to them,I sharply bend the thin section up at 90 degrees, facing in the opposite direction to the shaft, then I use a pair of needle-nose pliers to make a small loop in the tinned end of a piece of wire, just large enough to fit on the lug, then I solder it in place....works for me..... :)

Yeah, I have been getting my pots mainly from Jaycar but they are all PCB mount. I like your method for connecting wires to PCB mount though. I might give that a go. It sounds like it makes a pretty durable connection.

Yeah, the connections are pretty durable, the only time I have ever had a pot fail on me was when I overheated the solder lug while soldering a wire to it,for some strange reason,I found that certain values of pots tend to be more prone to it than others, but it doesn't happen very often for me though.... :)

I've given up with local electronics stores guys, they never have stock and are 4x the price of overseas suppliers. I get all my stuff from Futurlec, Tayda and Small Bear these days.
