Off topic: Would someone be so kind as to point me in the direction of the AC adapter jack used in the pedal above? These internal nut ones I've been using are starting to annoy me...

Thanks in advance!

Smallbear has the external metal nut jacks.

For me it's the other way around. These ugly sticking out of the case jacks annoy me far more.
Sorry. Plain out of planes.

Thanks guys!

I like the idea of removing all of the guts with no desoldering or cutting leads. I've also had the pleasure(?) of doing a couple of really claustrophobic builds and I like how little space it looks like the exterior nut type takes up.

I'm sure I'll be using both types in the future.

I agree, and they're especially nice in 1590A builds to give you a bit more space in the box. I've got both types but these definitely have their place. I bought some from Partspipe on eBay, but I've just noticed this seller doing them a bit cheaper. They look exactly the same ones to me.

Rad! Thanks IvI!

But now I feel bad because this is a thread about a sweet pedal but mainly all that's been talked about are AC jacks :(

You might also want to consider trying the type used in Boss pedals and the like - you can just slide everything out without even having to deal with the nut at all!

A Dremel, some files, and a notching tool will make the cutout in just a little more time than it takes to drill the .5"/13mm hole for the barrel jack.

The other nice thing about that jack style is that you can get it way up in the corner of your enclosure, since you don't have to mess with the nut.

I get these from Jameco.

$0.79 each if you buy ten. I also like these because it allows me to solder into a mock enclosure so I don't wreck whatever finish I have on the real enclosure. Also gives more room inside. I find they do stick out a little too far for my taste, but the ugly white nylon washer that accompanies the 3PDT switches fits on these perfectly, which puts them back inside the enclosure enough to warrant me buying them.

for the same reason (ability to remove insides without desoldering) I bought some too.. not for all builds, more for the ones I make for someone else who wants to paint it themselves.
