I'll try and upload a diagram of my redesigned stripboard layout that I used to fix the mains hum problem....stay tuned....:)

For the IC,you should see the following voltages on the pins:

Pin 1: 0V
Pin 2: 0V
Pin 3: 0V
Pin 4: -14V

Pin 5: 0V
Pin 6: 0V
Pin 7: 0V
Pin 8: +14V

Note,I have 68K resistors on the anodes of the valve in my pedal, you might have slightly different voltages, anyway on the valve pins you should see these voltages(as per my tube driver 4 knob build):

Pin 1:6.35V
Pin 2:-12.93V
Pin 3:-13V
Pin 4: 0V
Pin 5: 12.6V AC
Pin 6: 5.96V
Pin 7:-13V
Pin 8:-13V

Note 2:You may have different voltages on pins 4 and 5.

You might also get different voltages on pins 1 and 6 depending on what valve you're using and whether it is new,or old..... :)

To all those wanting a good Vero/Stripboard layout for the Baja BK Butler Tube Driver, and Real Tube Driver, please stay tuned,a friend of mine gave me a 3-In-1 Printer/Scanner/Copier,I'll get it up and running with my computer and will draw up the layout and scan it into my computer so I can convert it to a downloadable PDF document,I'll get it all sorted out ASAP.... :)

I made a proposed bill of materials, there are some problems like the bias pot, but I think it's okay. Lemmy know if you have suggestions or if you find things that I flat out failed at. Thanks!

Snafux,

If you wire the heater connections for the 12AX7 valve to pins 4 and 5,it will need 12.6V AC at 150mA,so to find out how much total current needed to supply the pedal with, just add 150mA to whatever the rest of the circuit draws,so with your 12V AC @ 500mA plugpack,150mA of it will be supplying the valve heater, leaving 350mA for the rest of the circuit, which I think should be fine, you may need to use a 10 Ohm/5 Watt resistor in place of the 33 Ohm/5 Watt resistor that's going to the valve heater, changing this resistor from 33 Ohms to 10 Ohms brings the heater voltage up to where it should be.... :)

Snafux,

Is your noise problem a mains hum noise that gets louder when you turn up the drive control?..... :)

Is it possible to post a pic of your build?.... :)
