Not sure if anyone is interested but I wanted a simple tone generator to trouble shoot some circuits. The pot shifts the frequency a tad and the "base frequency" is determined from the cap and resistor values. Can't get a smaller part count than this. Hope someone can use it. (BTW its verified, built one tonight)

The oscillator built around IC1B here could also be done with a 555. Just swap the 4093's pins (5,6,4) with the 555's (2,6,3), respectively. The frequency range goes from sub-audio to a couple kilohertz. Note the rotation of the pot should be reversed for normal (clockwise=faster) operation.

Thanks I'll give this a try. It a pain to drag my guitar out to the workbench in the garage when I need to troubleshoot.
