Also, I already have my temporary refund. I will let everyone know if Pawel disputes. He has no choice but to respond within 30 days if he wants to keep my cash. I personally hope he does send a response so I can provide a small measure of relief for the people he has taken.

All it proves to me is that there is a major problem in Pawel's life..
Someone doesn't shun an online community that he's spent several years becoming popular at,
close their Facebook account, and lose their Ebay membership, in order to extort a few dollars from people..
And again, my concern is for Pawel and his well being sorry 'OverDrive' .. less so than for your $40.

Send me your address by PM, and I'll send you $40, so then you can stop worrying about the money.

In the mean time, hopefully we will hear from Pawel, and hopefully he's OK.

My apologies if my posts have the appearance that my concern is focused on the cash alone. My real problem is the lack of response, the closing of his accounts and the number of people involved. With so many people looking for answers it must be something truly odd/horrible to make him take the time to deactivate all of his accounts as opposed to a simple post with a one sentence response.

I've got an account with facebook which I've had deactivated for some time, when I was loging onto facebook, I was hearing about how some people were experiencing getting their accounts/profiles hacked by some unscrupulous person, plus there's been reports of viruses (viri?) infecting people's computers too....

Pawel may well be the victim of someone hacking his facebook profile, however improbable that may be....

It's not that improbable..
but considering his disappearance from here and Ebay as well.. not likely in this case I'd say.

It's not that improbable..
but considering his disappearance from here and Ebay as well.. not likely in this case I'd say.

So I reckon something has obviously happened to him that required him to deactivate his facebook account, if it was indeed deactivated by him, so that suggests that he may be dealing with something which makes him feel like wanting to be left alone for some time, maybe a family tragedy or something?, he may even just be undergoing some kind of training needed in his line of work, we can only speculate what's going on....

Sinner, if you're reading this, please at least let us all know you are okay.....

I am sorry gentlemen, but the entire "something terrible happened to Pawel or Pawel wants to be alone so he had to ignore emails/PMs from friends and many customers and deactivate his eBay and Turretboard Facebook account" idea seems to be the most highly improbable scenario going.

I totally disagree.
The idea that someone would suddenly decide to burn their bridges without reason makes no sense..
But, the fact is, that we have no way of knowing..
so.. considering you say you've claimed your money back, and that I've also offered to refund it on Pawel's behalf, I think it might be smart to not keep on with this OverDrive.
There's no longer any need for you to do so as your money us guaranteed, and if it turns out that there is something seriously wrong with him, you're not going to be looking too good.
You seem to be obsessing over something that's pretty insignificant, while a long time and respected member here has gone missing without explanation.

On the other hand if it turns out that I'm wrong, and Pawel set out to rip a few guys off for a few bucks, then I'll be relieved that he's OK and gladly apologise to you.

You misunderstand. I would pay $40 to figure out what the deal is. I started the dispute claim because it is now the only way I can think of to get more info.

Notice that his Ebay profile shows 157 transactions with 100% positive Feedback, and the last 2 only are negative.
Doesn't that tell you something ?

Hey guys!

I hope Pawel is doing ok. We were comunicating a couple of times and it was always very pleasant. We also wanted to do some parts trades, but i got burried in work and we ended up postponing the trade.

Does anyone maybe have some spare 2-3 or maybe even 4 sheets of this great vero-paxolin stuff? I am planning a couple of builds and this stuff looks really really great. If anyone can spare a couple of these sheet (or just one would be great too), please pm me - i'd appreciate it very much!

Btw. i can understand very well why someone would close facebook and eBay accounts - looks like he got huge problems with postal servies (they do suck in eastern europe, i know, i'm from Latvia) and then he probably got masses of hate-mail, as people are impatient adn, as we see, sometimes go to great lengths because of 40$ or even less. At some point it might have gotten too much - this stuff accumulated and he just maybe doesn't want to get into this anymore. I hope too it's nothing serious.

Examination the facts! Logic is exactly what I am using. On the other hand, you are taking a much more personal/emotional view of the facts and creating a hypothetical scenario where his has experienced some kind of accident or hardship. Below is more or less my take on the situation.

That said, I know of several other buyers that have sent him alot more than $40 and have not had any response to their questions. I also have a few friends that are quite upset about the situation as they cannot afford ordering materials and losing a few hundred dollars with nothing to show for it. That is why I said I would pay $40 to know what the deal is.

My money is on Pawel simply deciding that the situation is too far gone and to give up on the problem. That would better explain why he has read his PMs, closed his eBay and Turretboard Facebook accounts while leaving his personal email and Facebook account untouched.

I had promised a few friends "vintage builds" with this material but had to disapoint them when I figured out I would not be landing these boards. That said, I have read that Pawel's boards have a very strong unpleasant odor. If that is not the case, I would certainly still like to pick up a few sheets as well.

My money is not a concern. Several of my friends paid with funds from their bank accounts through PayPal. People kept saying "don't worry, Pawel will not screw you." They waited too long to file complaints and PayPal will no longer help them. Therein lies my interest in the situation. That, and I had the misfortune of providing them with Pawel's contact information to place an order.

This board seems to be fine with the whole freedom of speech bit until it becomes inconvenient. I guess Ihave little choice but to defer to the powers that be and leave this alone.

strong odor... have you ever used any paxolin for builds? that stuff always has a specific smell to it, especially when cut - that's not just the case with Pawel's boards, but any paxolin. I like that smell actually - reminds me of original vintage gear! (it is also a form of cork-sniffing)

It's kind of like the smell of ciggarettes, the reason being that the resin used to bind the insulating material together contains a chemical called "phenol", which is also found in ciggarettes....
