breadboard kit

Ok, you got your soldering iron and nothing is going to hold you back, but you have no clue where to start or what to build. There were others before you with the same questions... read them first.

I've been looking around @ kits not sure what to get but this is something I stumbled on:

http://www.vakits.com/product_info.php?products_id=1040

if someone has any other ideas for other kits it would be much appreciated.

I think you could source it all cheaper yourself if your willing to put the time in. There's a decent amount of parts in there you wouldn't use for pedal building. At the same time I wouldn't say that kit is overpriced and it could be utilized as a good basic learning tool.

thank you, i was wondering if there were parts that would not translate to pedal building. i guess the idea of the bread board and having a stash of parts is what i was looking for.

Yes having a parts stash is pretty key but i wouldn't do it this way. Instead everytime you order a part, if you need 1 order 5, if you need 2 order 10. It pays off in the end with a lot less shipping and time waiting for a single part to arrive. Also get back-ups for sensitive pieces. You don't wanna wait 2 weeks because one component is bad!
That kit had radio crystals in it and all sorts of other stuff. It's too bad beavis audio stopped offering his parts stash kit. That one was killer. About 100 bucks but everythign you need with manual to breadboarding. If your interested in most used parts I can find this list I've seen posted for you. Most commonly used resitor values and capacitor values!
Have you seen Dragonfly's ridiculous mojo parts stash?! hahahah

Yes I was trying to acquire one of those beavis audio kits with the beavis board but I was too late. So I made my own simple test rig. Really easy. I don't even have mine in a box right now so there is a few grounding issues, but nothing too bad!
