Ups, the layout has an error: The output cap (C5) must be connected to the collectors, not the emitters. Quick and dirty workaround: Desolder the upper leg of C5, pull it out of the hole and connect it to hole f7 with a piece of stranded wire.

Verified version...
I changed the power supply filtering to match the schematic. Shouldn't make any difference...

A very significant improvement - change the input pot for either 100k or even 500k. This raises the input impedance a lot, and makes the pedal respond better to the guitar controls. It becomes very much "brighter" too so I put 15n across the output pot. It's probably not the way the thing was meant to work, but if the input level is just right, you can get some nice octave effects going on.
