found some more that show of sloppy work from an overgrown ego:

As I understand some of the above became EHX's holy stain. Thank God EHX seems to have some real engineers to clean up the sloppy junk and turn it into semi-reliable effects. Sad that some seem to think that they show off talent by making something and letting others do the hard labour of turning it into a decent and reliable design.

A real engineer is able to walk the full road. Not just a little bit and then bragging that the rest (which they cannot do) is easy and can be done by the youngsters.
Sorry. Plain out of planes.

That's a circuit that I don't understand. I have one and did the simple (but really cool) mods that Ice-9 suggested, and the modulation/reverb on it is pretty nice. But why did they make the "clean" channel so gritty? I really don't understand the thinking behind that.

Is it so bad to have a prototype be a little messy? I don't see why they couldn't have had the proto boards fabbed, but it doesn't really hurt anything that they are etched and wired all crazy. Or does it?

I probably wouldn't show that to anyone, however. I'd show them a much more refined prototype.

Considering it might need tweaking/debugging, I would try to avoid spaghetti wiring first...

It's not at all a problem to have a messy prototype. That's what it is a proto for. It's just, as you say already, not the workmanship you show around with, let alone to show off your engineering skills.

what name does Puretube build under when he's not selling designs to EHX?

Was he at musikmesse with Vex showing off his little module (I think it was something FV-1 based...)? I can't see he could have sold enough of those to pay for a plane ticket, never mind a stall!

Ton is a Dutch living in Germany.

When not dealing with EHX he sells stuff under the brownwrist and cum'n-swallow effects brandname.

but, basically, Ton should learn to accept that there are other people that do not share his perspectives on how the world should be ran, that are capable of creating things. Unfortunately Ton has, over the last few years, only showed a total absence of an open mind, let alone willingness. It's a full me, me, me, me.

He's a Dutch in Germany. Good riddance but I feel sorry for all Germans.

Please tell me you are making a funny joke at his expense. Please tell me that is not a name anyone would actually use, in English, for the brand name of anything that is not directly related to pornography.

Having taken one for the team and had a good search, I'm pretty sure it was a joke.

Given the lack of success in that department, I'm REALLY not sure I want to search for "brownwrist"...

I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but I tend to take comments by Europeans (in general, but especially non-Brits) a little more seriously and literally than comments from my naive and sheltered countrymen.

whether or not any shits are being handed out, the proof is in the pudding. all it takes is a look at dirk's working mini deluxe mm made by hand, not stuffed by a machine vs. the shitmesse proto (does that say "ego" on the box? ) and nothing more has to be said.
by the way, I tried that stain at GC, and just didn't get it. it sounded like they were trying to squeeze a bunch of very mediocre fx in one box. there were a few interesting clips on YT in the proto stage, too bad none of them actually made it into the final product. doesn't really matter anyway, as I wouldn't by anything designed by someone that talks the amount of shit he does about FSB, all the while participating here for years! the first time I pointed it out over at DIYS, aaron made up some bogus unrelated reason to kill the thread. I guess I'll just have to keep on spreading the gospel! the truth hurts, but it heals. ;)

If I'm not mistaken, the effects available on the Stain are the default sample programs on the FV-1. No programming is required, just hook it up per the app note and you get two reverbs, tremolo + verb, chorus + verb, flanger + verb, pitch shift, and pitch shift + slapback. The fuzz/OD and tone controls were added by EHX, but the all of the digital modulation effects are bone stock out of the chip.

I've attached a screenshot of the program listing from the FV-1 datasheet. These are exactly the programs on the Stain...once you've "unlocked" the additional programs that EHX decided not to include.
