my favorite amplifier: Low wattage SE amps
Completed builds: Many many many true bypass and voicing mods on wahs.
A few BYOC kits and DS-1 mods and eventual murder then rebirth into an actually useful pedal, Bad Stone clone, various Rangemasters/SilconMasterBlaster, The worlds greatest gutted GCB-95 volume pedal conversion with various switching options for controlling amps. Repaired many tube amps, scratchbuilt Marshall 18 watt clone and Supro 1616t rebuild. Delays, fuzz, dirt, every Madbean project I could afford. I even manage to find time to make babies with my wife too!

I find this to be true of my Supro 1616t, the potting has melted/bubbled out a little sometime before I got it but it is still going strong, but I fear that it'll eventually go. The Valco OT is teeny compared to a Champ OT.

Hi timbo,

Thank you for the links. I will try to learn more about this kind of amps.

I don´t think that using tubes this way will be a waste of glass as been wrote before.

Cheers,
Jose

Hi timbo,

Finally you have built this amplifier?

I want to try to do something similar, but would be nice to know what happened to this design.

Cheers,
Jose

for what its worth, this design is VERY similar to a series of designs that have been kicking around over at the Weber forum known as the "Phat Ass". Username ScottVA came up with a design that was intended to use the input section from an 18W lite, the tone stack from a 5E3 Deluxe, a long-tailed PI, and then a cathode biased output section. I think he might have started with a quad of EL84s, but folks over on that board have run with it and done pairs of EL84, 6V6, 6L6, EL34, and KT66. I built one with KT66s and posted about it here:

Anyway.....the amps screams, and im sure the design in the original post does as well.
