Anyone ever take a crack at the Tube it? We're talking a circuit encased in a thick epoxy block. I have one that was degooped a few years ago, can post a pic in a day or so.

Pics of gooped stuff is always interesting.... that in the future less goop will be used.

Tube-it wasn´t ungooped yet, only the NTMB by "markusw" in 2005.

So feel free to show what you´ve got.

Yeah this was a really nice sounding unit - it seemed to be a clearer,higher headroom modded TS, my guess was maybe that was the first to use the diode switch...

I really liked the gooping - the board is the size of one of thier bass pickup covers and is dopped in the cover and sealed in epoxy, which is a good way to do it actually....

I would not buy ANY gooped pedal as a principle - except for the purpose of degooping.

The one I tried wasn't worth de-gooping IMO.
Very trebley and pretty harsh sounding.
It sounded more like a transistor based circuit than opamp I thought.

Has anyone degooped one of these yet? I'm curious about this one.

I met Mr. Bartolini at NAMM and tried to politely procure a schematic of the Tube-It from him. It was a no go (very nice man though). He did mention that the circuit board was encased/epoxied inside a pickup cover and that trying to get it out would destroy the PCB. I do keep an eye out for used ones but the $450 they fetch is a little too much just to satisfy my curiousity.

I've played a lot of dirt pedals, and this one really doesn't live up to any of the claims I've seen for it, and it would rate very low amongst the pedals i've played.
Tube like ? ... NO.
Harsh ?... YES.
Very much a case of an over hyped pedal because it's no longer available IMO...

But... if you really want one, there's one local to me (Western Australia) that I could probably get for you for around half the price you mention above.
I'd be happy to send it on to you.

Thanks Greg, let me think about it. If I knew for sure I could get it apart with out ruining it I'd be more inclined. Even at half the price it's a lot of money to throw out the window. Although there was that one I spent $425 to de-goop a....

I played a B Tube-It some month ago in a shop. It had a tube in it, a 1m mains connector and gain, vol., treble/bass controls.
Noisy as hell and not very good sounding (maybe the tube was worn). Soundwise JCM 800, but with icepick treble.

Price was app. 30$ for this unit (used).
