- How do the additional diodes affect the release time?
I understand the goal, but not the mechanism..
Can some of you help me get my head around it?? :)

No. Because it's entirely bogus. The diodes don't actually have anything to do with the attack or release times. They just clamp the control voltage.

What are you trying to achieve? The Scholtz circuits were fairly clever 40 years ago, but have been superceded by MUCH better designs!

I am interested too. I have never been able to find any complete schematics of the Rockman compressor. Jark's drawings are naturally incomplete in order not to give away any secrets. The comp in the Sustainor and DG sound really good to me.

What are you trying to achieve?
I am looking for a brutally simple & cheap (yet transparent...) circuit fragment to reduce dynamic range a bit, before a soft clipping circuit, in a quest to build an ultra smooth "cleanish" overdrive/amp emulator.

I stumbled on that page during my research, & just got curious about what they could mean.
What would be the result of the clamping you describe on the operation of the circuit?

I came across this site and post while reading a post from pinkjimiphoton.

This is basically the compressor from the early Rockman headphone amps. Jarc has put it in a pedal format. The pdf's are in French so I used Google translate to decipher them although some of it doesn't translate well.
