I finished the cabinet a few months ago.

Although I'm reasonably satisfied I probably won't be using wood stain for this sort of thing again.

Very nice. It looks like old world craftsmanship. My wife would probably allow this amp in the living room.
I enjoy the simple beauty of wood.
I am tempted to just spray a very light coat of clear lacquer on any guitar or furniture. Wood's natural elegance is hard to improve.

Thanks. It's the same kind of wood as the "blonde" amp below it (aspen). I used some stain on it to get it darker. Probably won't do that again, glue in the joints etc shows up in sharp contrast and so forth. Next time I want a darker cabinet I'll probably just use a different type of wood and finish it natural.atreidesheir wrote:Very nice. It looks like old world craftsmanship. I agree, I really like the retro-ness of it, like it was made in the 1930's or something.....very cool....

Here's a couple old sound clips from when it had a slightly different tone stack. Sounds fairly similar now:

This one is with my Phase 90 too:

It's got that Marshall/Vox AC30 crunch sound, kind of a bit like what Brian May gets, nice....

Wow Doug! sounds awesome! That could be a product to start a company on. I had been kicking around the idea of using an ECC99 in place of a 12AU7 in a trainwreck style lowatt amp, this cinches it! That tube sounds great!.DougH wrote:I finished the cabinet a few months ago.
