Hey, I don't know if this is the right place to post this, if not please move it to where it belongs...

I'm getting to speed with ExpressPCB, if there is some schematic (original or traced) of wich we're lacking the PCB layout, I'm offering myself to do it... please point me in the right direction and I'll give some seat time back.

Regards,
Juanro

I need a hand with this one. It's simple, but still I'm not familiar with all those tracing software..
It's a phantom-powered condenser microphone circuit. XLR and the capsule connections should not be onboard, I think. I mean, just make them goldpins, or whatever.
Thanks.

Meffcio,

This is what I've got:

What do you think?
If you're planning to build this, open a thread with the schematic and I'll post the ExpressPCB file there, then you can continue with your build report there.

nice work :applause:

I've taken to making the 'corners' the same colours as the tracks.. easier when it comes time to print out for the PCB itself, and I'm not sure what advantage highlighting the corners actually has

What corners? The slightly darker green dots where the tracks turns or connect?
Dunno. Just the way ExpressPCB is.
I just change (temporarly) the colors to white backgroud, black bottom layer, black corners bottom layer and then capture the image with Paint & scale it to the right pitch before actually printing. Not very high tech, I know, but it works for me.
Do you know of a better program to draw PCB? I just use ExpressPCB/SCH 'case 1-is free 2-manage both schem & layout and allow me to check and highlight net connections, but can use anything that get the job done.

Whoa, the board is great, but... i forgot to say something important xd
It's going to be mount in a small diameter (about 20mm) aluminium tube, so it should be longer and narrower, if possible - with the xlr connections on one side and capsule connections on another. But looking at your already drawn pcb I think it's going to be hard, if not impossible...

You can use any color for the corners, because they'll not appear when you print... at least when you NOT check the "Print in color" box.

yeah, those bits.. I only use expressPCB too.. I just set the 'corners' in the colour area to be the same colour as the tracks (top layer I think).. never used the print button  , I just use windows [alt]+[printscreen] then paste it into photofiltre and edit from there.. then I can just pretty it up there :block:

Hi,

how's about this one here: download/file.php?id=9028&mode=view mictester seems a bit too busy at the moment and some people are aegerly awaiting a layout for it.

Cheers

Duckman, nice layout and I'll "borrow" your (is it yours?) board mounted pot.

Helge, I'll give it a try.
Any preferences? Board mounted pot? Onboard DPDT/3PDT? offboard wiring? Should I include the LED indicator part on the far right? Is there a chance to get the .SCH (if there is one)?

You don't know how grateful I am. Build report as soon as I get back to building diy stuff.
Juanro, you also did great, of course, but it's just that the board won't fit the enclosure. Thanks anyway, it's still to be used in some other type of mike, I think.
Good luck with that Muff, by the way.

Doh! One learns something everyday. I have missed the print option of ExpressPCB.

Board mounted pots are always welcome - but I think if you'll try that you end up with something that wouldn't fit into an 1590B enclosures, which is what I do prefer. Feel free to implement what you like to. I though do prefer mill. bypass switching but I got a switch mounted extra pcb for that so it isn't realy necessary at least for me. As for the .sch I doubt that but you could ask mictester if he got one.

No problem at all. If you search for ExpressPCB, there's a thread where I (and others) posted most of our templates. Use it freely, at least mines :thumbsup
Just one point about the board: I made it in the fly, based in Juanro's layout, so I didn't made a proper .sch file, hence, check 5087's pinout, wich are PNP and I'm not 100% sure if thay are correctly oriented, ok?

Cheers!

Helge, Ok I'll aim for 1590B then.

Duckman, well... search, s. e. a. r. c. h. .... :slap: I'll take a look.

Looks good to me. Tried once express sch and pcb - pain in the a** to handle if you ask me. ;) I stay with oldschool Sprint layout and a printed schematic in front of me.

Hi,
BMPlus_pcb.JPG
See my schematic for components names and mictester's for values.

What do you think? If it pass a quick check I'll post complete files to the other thread.
