Okay I've gotten so much info here as well as layouts and whatnot. This website is the reason I've been able to build pedals. I'm a total beginner but I'm learning very fast and I've already made a few pedals with success. I just wanted to give you guys something in return and I hope this will evolve into a thread with schematics, layouts and whatever people need.

So here are a few pictures of the insides of my GMD Luther Drive. I'm not sure if it's the current version (if he's ever altered them) but it's a few years old.

Let me know if you need any additional photos, info or whatever.

Good start!

Now, we need the other side of the board and the values of the pots.
EDIT: But it's a TS of course

I'm 99% sure that GMD got his boards from BYOC (the old version of their 808 clone board). I think he made some kind of deal because they are screened with his name (or at least got some blank ones with no name), but the layout and traces are identical to the BYOC.

So yes, it's an old-school 808 (with buffers).

You are correct - he had Keith do the layout and handle the ordering of his boards.

that thing, to me looks and sounds like a modded maxon ts-808

and that's based on the SRV Special by JC Maillet:
http://www.lynx.bc.ca/~jc/pedalsSRVspecial.html

Basically a Tubescreamer with less coupling caps (more clarity) and more gain 2m pot.

Some of my fav mods for a Tubescreamer are btw:

a bigger input cap (47nF-82nF)

and

a different frequency response for the high end roll off just before the tone control,
which is just a boosting back the highs at 723.8Hz, so you get a flat high end response when the tone control is maxed.

change the 220nF cap that goes to ground before the second half of the op-amp to 15nF or even 10nF
and you get a good bit more mid clarity and punch, because you have a little mid spike at around 880Hz.

Tweak on!
