Hey guys, so i have and love my laney Cub 10 class A/B tube amp. i am kind of an idiot when it comes to the technical side of tube amps. i was wondering if you could check out this schematic and tell me if it is similar to any other existing circuits. basically so I have a reference point to compare it to, that and I am kind of a nerd

In the good ol days it was a fair Question but with so many different fizz bottle Amps today it's of little use trying to define such things.
just knowing that Banana's are high in magnesium might be more useful, wink

TC of some common power tubes
Pentodes
EL34 11,200
EL84 11,200

Tetrodes
6V6 3,800
6L6 8,000

6V6 and 6L6 are beam power tubes or Tetrodes and by design will not have the same grunt as EL34/84.

Hence you often read in magazines where they comment about Amps;
"This is a very Tweed sound or a very British sound."

With modern and often overly complex preamp circuit tricks the power amp feel is often lost as the preamps are fizzed out and the master sets the level So the power tube magic is no longer happening as it once did.

Needless to say I really can't help. Except to say that low wattage Cathode biased amps will always sound sweeter than fixed bias amps.
