i've done an extensive google search bro...i don't think it's gonna turn up too easily.

analog guru says it's the same as the vox phazer, but that's a hen's tooth, too.

Might be a good candidate for tracing and,or reverse-engineering.... :hmmm:

Mmm.. if you look at the tiny gut shot at effectsdatabase, you can see that is has a similar phase circuit as the carlsbor phaser (by colorsound) which has the LM1458's which lead me to the Phazex, shematic found here (by analogguru) http://analogguru.an.ohost.de/193/schem ... Phazex.gif

And before that probably the one knob fuzz.. which leaves us with the tone knob..

there was one on eBay recently
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1976-COLORSOU ... 0547131368
phaser circuit board is sitting on top of what looks to be the normal Supa-Wah-Fuzz-Swell circuit board which is the same board as in the B&M/GB/etc Champion Fuzz Unit a.k.a. Jumbo Tone Bender

yah, it's supposed to be the same as the carlsboro phazer, and i found analog guru's schem for the phazex.

this is the best capture i could get from evil bay...do ya think it's reverse-engineerable from this without the trace side?

wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy above my paygrade!!!!

maybe, but i doubt it...after building the vocalizer, i'm pretty sure that it's a discrete design. i wanna find this thing....the search goes on!!!

Are there any soundclips for this thing?

The board and controls do seem to point to the Jumbo Tonebender nightraven is pointing to though.. but as you say, the quest continues..

I agree with ~arph.

I am going all in with a Phazex into a Supa Tone Bender!

Whoops! Got that backwards!

pinkjimiphoton, are you a memeber of the DAM forum? If not, you might try there. There is a lot of Colorsound knowledge there. I've already searched the forum and didn't find anything, but someone there may your answer.

Check this one out Jimi
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Carlsbro-Color ... 3cbe4b1c14
Just happens to be made on the 8th Sept 1976, one day before the one in your photo, but the layout is different, it just has the one PCB. The phasex schem is extremely close to your gutshot, except there is one extra JFET/transistor and the caps and R's tally is close...and the extra tranny or whatever is present in both gutshots, maybe a buffer, but it throws a spanner in the works, whether it be small or big I don't know.

Same layouts for the phaser part.. the extra tranny is interesting though. The phaser part definatly is different from the phazex, but it's really close. That carlsbro has only one board because it is just the phaser without the fuzz..

well, again, i am way to newb to "see" this stuff yet, but could the extra tranny be the fuzz? i mean, ya don't need too many transistors to get a good fuzz sound.
think anybody could figure out even a partial schematic to start with ? thinking maybe if someone can figure out the phaser part, can load the rest in spice to see what may does what...not that i even know how to DO that, we're talking 10,000 monkeys and typewriters for 10,000 years to get "see spot run"...

it's gotta be doable...someone, somewhere will have the key...i got faith! ;)
