Help identifying old Ge transistors

I spent some of the weekend culling Ge transistors from old electronics (mostly radios). Here's my take:

Most everything is clearly marked and easy enough to identify except a few from an old Japanese made alarm clock/radio. They're marked with a large block letter "S"..you can kind of see it in the photo below. Anyone know who made these?:

Out of the close to 40 I culled, only four didn't sound very good in a fuzz face I breaded boarded or where noticeably noisy. Next up is to measure gain and leakage for them all. I also breadboarded a Mosrite Fuzzrite and it was interesting that it was a bit more particular about which transistors sounded good.

I also got a pretty good haul of germanium diodes. Know ideas yet on how to identify these (any tips?):
