I based the layout on this schematic:
http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main. ... s.jpg.html

Seems like a reasonable schematic/circuit to my novice eyes, but I have no idea how close or far this is from the real thing.

oh yeah, I remember this thing. those MOS stages are freakin weird. I guess the idea is just to drive the hell out of the input of the device? it's supposed to be a new way to model a triode with 9v. i've tried to read the translated version of the the accompanying article, but it wasn't exactly what I'd call English. I'd still like to fool around with it sometime, though.
btw- Soulsonic designed a SLO emu called Freya a while ago that might be worth checking out.

FWIW,,,,,,, @ 9VDC ,,,, you're all dreaming.

Built a few Fet circuits and even from 40 VDC they die in thar ass when called upon to perform.

Off course I reserve the right to be proved wrong :)
Have fun,,, Phil.

Hi Slammer
The red dots are breaks in the copperlines. Do it with a 4mm drill by HAND. Only "drill out" the copper.
Have fun

Cool but, why would i need to? Isnt this project made over a PCB with full of holes like this? or is this a special one ?

That is perf board that you have found, strip board or vero board is what you need the drill for as there are strips of copper running the length of the board, not individual pads round each hole.

See Ebay item 290651644504 for vero (strip) board

Necrobump

I've been thinking about building this and have been trying to research it to see what it sounds like.

Has anyone built this? What does it sound like?

I made a layout for it but have not built it yet. I have heard sound demos of boards made with this Russian schematic and it sounds great! I have built most of them all working so I believe this will work. I added a "sweep" pot in place of R23... adds more tonal options

I am thinking of doing the veroboard version, but am a little confused on how I am going to add trimpots in place of those bias resistors.... Pin 1 to the 9v rail and pin 2 to the fet, but I am not sure how to make it fit and look "pretty".

How close do you think this sounds to a 5150 considering that the 5150 was based off of a slo 100?

well, you can add the trimmers on the end of some wires temporarily until you find the bias where you like and then measure the resistance of them and replace them with fixed resistors.. Sound like a 5150? not so much..

Nice...

I've built the Freya from Soulsonic... Nice work from Chittum, It sounds killer.
It has 7 knobs, one more than this, the 7th would be a Depth control...
